CHIEF OF POLICE REGULAR MONTHLY REPORT

On November 7th, the Chester Police Department held Active Shooter / Intruder Training at the Chester Community Grade School. Chief Coffey reported that this training program is one of many

 events planned to promote the Department's "Safe Schools" program. In the coming months the Department will be visiting the remaining Chester schools to conduct "in-house" training.

On December 2, 2009 Chief Coffey met with members of St. Mary's Catholic School Board of Education in reference to introducing the "Safe Schools" program. Chief Coffey asked the Catholic school board for their commitment to assist the Police Department in making the program a success.

Chief Coffey reported on some additions to the performance evaluation procedures, which are scheduled to take place in about two months.

Chief Coffey once again reported on his concerns over current staffing levels at the Police Department.

Chief Coffey reported that they have received the new 2010 Ford Expedition. This vehicle is in the process of being equipped at this time.

On November 7th, Chief Coffey held a departmental meeting before the tactical training at the grade school. Chief Coffey reported that he and his staff discussed staffing concerns, training, community programs, and established an updated list of priority projects. Chief Coffey reported that Mayor Eggemeyer sat in on the meeting as well.

Chief Coffey reported that Deputy Chief Helmers assisted him in serving as an observer at Chester Community Grade School recently during one of their emergency drills. Chief Coffey reported that both the faculty and students did a fine job.

Chief Coffey reported that the department has posted information and photos of recent training on the website (www.chesterpolicedepartment.com).

Chief Coffey reported that on November 20th, Deputy Chief Helmers and Telecommunicator Dawn Sullivan met with the kindergarden classes at Chester Community Grade School. They read to the kids and talked to them about police work.

Chief Coffey reported that Deputy Chief Helmers and Lead Telecommunicator Deb Stout attended a ceromony recently honoring members of the military and emergency service workers. The ceromony was hosted by the local scout troops.
