Chief Coffey's Monthly Report for March 2010

 

On March 1, 2010, Chief Coffey reported to the Chester City Council on the following topics at the regular City Council meeting.

 

 

Chief Coffey reported on the scheduled closure of the Chester Bridge and how the closure could adversely affect local farmers and large equipment dealers. Chief Coffey explained that for several years now...

 his Department has handled the wide-load escorts across the bridge. Chief Coffey said that he has met with representatives of the Missouri Department of Transportation and the company contracted to do the work on the bridge. As a result, they have planned to create a way to send out e-mails informing these affected businesses as to when the bridge will be available to cross with equipment requiring a wide-load escort.

 

Chief Coffey reported that he attended the Chester Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday, February 16th. Chief Coffey debriefed the Board on some of the dispositions of the recent counterfeiting case. Chief Coffey also reported on some programs the Police Department has been working on.

 

Chief Coffey reported that he has been working with St. Mary’s Catholic School in reference to the 20mph school zone.

 

Chief Coffey reported on some parking concerns along the 600 block of State Street and at the corner of State and Swanwick Streets.

 

Chief Coffey reported that the Police Department participated in “Wellness Day” at Chester High School. Chief Coffey stated that Deputy Chief Helmers, Canine Officer Joe Swallers, and Officer Joe Jany all participated in the program.

 

Chief Coffey also reported that two staff members will meet with the first grade class at St. Johns Lutheran School. Chief Coffey explained that the staff members will meet with the class, read a book together and visit.
